SEA SISTERS
Welcome to our first ever blog post! We also want to give a big THANK YOU to anyone reading this and for your interest in our brand!:) Mer Soeur is our heart and soul so we have so much love for everyone who supports us or takes interest in us in any way! We are going to be writing about many different subjects on here but we first wanted to start our blog off by introducing ourselves and what our brand is all about!
Our names are Courtney and Celia, we are the two sisters who started this label. We get asked all the time if we are twins, we're not, but we might as well be. We're 2 years apart but we are the best of friends, and we are so thankful for the relationship we share. We can't begin to imagine what we would do without each other. We're inseparable so obviously the first thing we had to do was start a business together!(haha)
We grew up in a very small beach town on the gulf coast of Florida. Our little slice of paradise is something we cherish more than anything. We have some of the most beautiful beaches, islands, and secret spots right here in our little beach town! Our parents started bringing us to the beach as infants. We grew up with the ocean as our playground. I'm pretty sure with the amount of time we've spent in the ocean that we have saltwater running through our veins. Needless to say we grew up living in our bikinis, and nothing has changed.
If you're having a bad day, what is the one thing that in an instant can change your mood or make you feel at peace? For us, its the ocean. That first cool, refreshing touch of the water on your toes. That moment when you're diving in head first, taking it all in and swimming like a mermaid. The feeling of the water flowing through your hair and feeling it on your skin as you swim through the crystal clear warm water. Looking up through the water and seeing the sun sparkle through. Nothing puts a smile on our face faster. The ocean has us in constant awe and wonder, its as if you're traveling some place new every time, but yet it still feels like home.
We wanted to create a brand based on the connection we have with the sea and the unbreakable bond we have as sisters. That is how we came to the name Mer Soeur, which in French translates to Sea Sister. We chose the French translation because we loved the name in itself and we are very inspired by minimalist French design. Since we grew up being very active with surfing, boxing, and dance. We wanted to focus our designs on being active as well. But we still wanted women to feel comfortable and sexy in their bikinis. So that is what we set out to do with this brand. We want women to feel like they're still able to be playful while feeling comfortable and looking good! We believe every body has its own story, and that the swimsuit shouldn't over power the body wearing it. We believe simplicity and comfort are beautiful. That is why our suits are made to love and compliment your body. We use the highest quality Italian fabrics and our suits are all produced here in the US. Our collection now is completely seamless and the majority are reversible! Some of the tops are versatile and can be used for activities like yoga or even as a bralette!
